Battling body image

If you’re struggling with how you see yourself, you might be suffering from a distorted body image. Distorted body image refers to an unrealistic view of how you see your body. 

It’s crucial not to let body image destroy your day. Remember that personality characteristics like self-criticism and perfectionism are keys to growing a negative impression of yourself. 

The good news is that you can stop battling body image and turn negative body thoughts into healthier ways of looking at yourself. Here are some things you can practice to feel better about who you are and appreciate your natural look. 

1. Don’t Skip Meals

It’s vital to have time to sit down for a meal. Don’t skip breakfast, lunch, or dinner since it’s not healthy and can lead to stress, anxiety, weight gain, lower energy levels, and self-criticism. This happens because your blood sugar decreases, which interrupts your capacity to think clearly. 

2. Do Some Self-Care

Self-care is crucial as it encourages you to keep a healthy relationship with yourself, preventing negative thoughts. When you feel good, you can transmit happiness to others. Keep in mind that practicing self-care is not about being selfish is about paying adequate attention to your well-being. Here are some tips for practicing self-care:

  • Exercise regularly
  • Get enough sleep
  • Be an intuitive eater
  • Be grateful
  • Learn to say No

3. Wear Comfortable Clothes

When you’re battling body image, it’s key to feel confident, and dressing up has a significant impact on your mental state. Wearing comfortable clothes makes you feel comfortable and at ease. 

A comfortable outfit is vital to make you feel self-assured. Clothes can help you manage anxiety and stress. 

Let your body be you, which means wearing clothes that feel so good that you feel amazing when you wear them. 

4. Do Somethings That Makes You Happy (like dancing)

People who are upbeat no matter what life throws at them have one thing in common: they have discovered more of the things that make them happy, and they do them. You stop battling body image by increasing your happiness. 

Doing things like dancing, painting, meditation, singing, etc., are the key to happiness. Remember, the small things make you happy, and when you’re happy, you stop self-criticism and focus on what matters most: you!
